Renowned Israeli gypsy cabaret singer Fay Sussman & sax player extrordinaire Zeppo Zimmerman with KaOZ Klezmer
Byron Bay Bowling Club, Sat March 5th, 8pm
Two guests from Sydney's Klezmer Connexion will perform with local quartet KaOZ Klezmer offering a wonderful evening's entertainment. We are very lucky to have Fay Sussman and Zeppo Zimmerman paying visit to the Northern Rivers in conjunction with the Courage to Care exhibition that will be on display in Lismore.
KaOZ Klezmer's leader Pietro first played in a band with Zeppo more than 30 years ago. They have worked together in several bands both in Sydney (including Keys) and in Northern NSW (e.g. Wholly Cats). Zeppo also founded the popular Sydney underground rock group "Paris Green".
Zeppo first performed klezmer as a guest of the KaOZ Klezmer Orkeztra at Woodford Folk Festival in 2000 & on the KaOZ CD recorded live at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore. He then went home to form Klezmer Connexion in Sydney. They began performing at the popular cult venue "La Bar" in 2001 and have gone from strength to strength ever since. They play regularly at Sydney venues such as the Side On Café and Soup Plus, festivals, community events and many Jewish functions.
Fay Sussman, born in Poland, sings in her native Yiddish with the shining passion and conviction that allows this music to survive, carrying it to new audiences for the new millennium. Her childhood was spent in Israel where she sung to Holocaust survivors in the street of Tel Aviv. Her singing brings audiences to their feet at every performance. It can transport you to a time and place as vivid and beautiful as the music itself.
KaOZ Klezmer will perform some of their recent repertoire of music along with some of their old favourites. You can enjoy more of the KaOZ Story & listen to samples from their CD Oy! KaOZ Klezmer Live! At their website KaOZKlezmer.com For more info on the "Courage to Care" exhibition contact Lismore Regional Art Gallery on 6622 2209.
Tickets are $15/12 with a family price of $35/28, available at the door only.
Don't miss this great night out!
